Find the root cause of your reactions

Nolum exists for one thing: to find the real cause of a reaction that keeps repeating, and to change it in real life.

Why this exists

Almost everyone eventually notices the same reaction happening again. Snapped over something small. Said yes when the answer inside was no. Went silent in a conversation you planned yourself. Quit the thing you started.

The reaction itself is easy to see. The cause sits underneath it, formed years ago, running on autopilot ever since.

People get stuck exactly at the cause, and this is where the usual tools stop helping. A journal records what happened. Advice describes how things should be. Neither one tells you why this keeps happening to you specifically.

How Nolum works

You describe a situation that got under your skin, in a few honest sentences, in whatever language you think in.

Nolum returns a card of mind: what actually drives the reaction, where the pattern came from, what keeps it alive. And a quest: one concrete action in real life, because a pattern changes through behaviour, not through realising something about yourself.

After each quest you describe what changed inside. The system tracks the dynamics and shapes the next step: harder if something shifted, gentler if it did not. Every quest aims at the same root cause, one specific scenario from your life, and gets more precise as you go.

A full deck is 72 cards, and the point is not to collect it. Every ten cards you work through usually show up as a different reaction to the same old situation. The personality card appears later, when enough has been done for it to have something to say.

What Nolum is not

Not a journal, not tarot, not a chatbot, not a replacement for therapy. The analysis is built from your own words and nothing else. No horoscopes, no predictions, no advice invented out of thin air.

Several psychotherapists use Nolum alongside their practice. That is the right frame: a tool for working with your own patterns, useful next to professional help rather than instead of it. In a crisis you need a person, not an app.

What you get for free

The first card of mind and the first quest, without any payment details. That is the full core cycle the product is built around.

Max Dorash

Founder, Nolum Inc.

Nolum grew out of my own practice, not from market research. For years, this is what I worked on: examining my own reactions, tracing them back, finding the patterns underneath them, and changing them through action rather than trying to think my way through everything even harder.

This work is slow. It’s easy to give up, and hard to even begin when you don’t know where to start. That’s why I built the tool I wish I had at the beginning. It’s especially useful for people who are just starting to understand themselves and looking for a first thread to pull, but it can be useful even for those who have already learned to notice their reactions and work with them. Over time, it becomes less of an entry point and more of a tool for seeing things that might have remained unnoticed before.

Understanding how I wanted to talk about this didn’t come all at once either. It grew over the years from what I read, practiced, and observed in myself: psychology, self-reflection, Buddhism, shadow work, and Jungian thought. I’m still exploring these ideas, so the language of Nolum isn’t fixed either — it keeps evolving along with me and the product.

Professionally, I’ve spent more than ten years building technology products and have been a founding CTO three times. I’ve taken products from scratch — from the first line of code and the architecture to a working product, a team, and real users. That’s why Nolum isn’t just an idea of what such a tool could be. It’s a product I came up with, designed, and built because at one point, I was looking for exactly this kind of tool myself.

The starting point is free: your first card of mind and your first quest, no card details.
